I know I have now turned into biscuits. However, I'm still here, alive. Just had a baby recently >__<. Thought that I will be more productive without the huge belly but I was totally wrong. Hardly find times to sew *sob sob*

Anyhow, I definitely will continue sewing when things get back to normal. Soon. Hopefully.

A little mess in my sewing room right now so you'll be seeing no progress this month. Can't really work properly in a messy environment :(.. Will update once this is over.syafhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04043537198167365477noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218229479157012048.post-10539011644810191192011-04-14T20:13:00.000-07:002011-04-15T07:44:57.213-07:00No SewYup, no machine/threads/needles needed. Only fabric remnant; big enough to cover your old boring-looking tray, paint & brush and mod podge as adhesive/sealer.

hmmm.. no mod podge in this pic (matte-mat-mate)

The steps are pretty simple for this. I bet you can figure out what needs to be done.

First, I painted the tray black to match the drawing lines on the fabric, leaving the white base as-is. After the paint dried, measure, cut and iron the fabric. **Added 1/4" to all edges so I could fold them to hide frays.
Then, using mod podge, glue the fabric onto the tray and seal. Done ;)

TaDaa!

Despite busy schedule last weekend, I managed to visit a craft market for the first time, yeehar!! The event, Crafty Art Market was held at Jaya One PJ – the right location at the right time as I needed to go to CakeConnection to check on some baking stuffs as well. 2 in 1 :)

The weather was pretty hot but I didn’t mind at all. It was fun! I get to browse through a lot of interesting items from creative sellers. I kept reminding myself to only buy what is needed. Lucky I didn’t have time to go to the teller machine so I bought only 1 (phewh!) small knitted cotton fabric from loveandcraft. Visited my friend's Mai Okinokiyo booth. The sun hats were cute! But no size for my boys.. The dresses were lovely but no size for my lil niece also :(.. Maybe I was destined to spend only rm10 that day huhu..

A couple of pictures taken during the visit.. I should have taken more.. terlupa sbb syok sgt tgk keliling hihi.. you can visit Okinokiyo’s site for more pictures.

Next event will be Handmade Market and Supplies Bazaar:
I’m now a craft bazaar addict!
See you there! (as though i'll be setting my own booth ahah)syafhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04043537198167365477noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218229479157012048.post-88478120178599384742011-02-08T07:05:00.000-08:002011-02-08T07:05:22.995-08:00Something for the little chefI made 2 items for my friend’s daughter.

[1] Apron
Is a must. So her mommy dearest yulie bakes the cake (head chef hehe) would have chances wearing her own apron :).. Besides, wearing inappropriate size can be harmful.. I mean can cause kitchen accident lah if the size is too big :P

This is my first apron project. No pattern needed as it is very basic.. Just need a little teeny weeny bit of thinking since it is reversible (you can do it too, trust me and believe in yourself ;)). Measurement taken directly from my little model’s body.

The apron with Dora the Explorer design. Hope she likes it.

[2] Zippered pillow case
Pulling the pillow out of its case is one of her favourite things to do, I was told. Smelling the ‘bantal busuk’ directly makes her calm I guess.. right? (eh, do not disagree with me. I’m sure you once - or still - have 'bantal busuk' as well ahah! There, there I can see you smiling :P) Anyway, I hope by adding the zipper would at least stop her from having that idea again.

Oh nos.. I didn’t snap the pillowcase pic before I sent. Never mind, I will post a tutorial on how to attach the zipper in my next post and show you the final result of course.

Last but not least, for the mommy dearest.. happy belated birthday yulie muahs

syafhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04043537198167365477noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218229479157012048.post-6786216671474097912011-01-13T23:43:00.000-08:002011-01-14T00:39:05.790-08:00Is that an airplane's pipe?

Okay, this is not one of the missing parts from the recent airasia crash incident hehe..
But this thing can be turned into something really useful for your bobbins. You just need only RM1 to get 3 sets of bobbin organizer. Cool isn’t it?

And all you need is a pipe, as shown above (I don’t know what they usually called it here but it looks like a pipe to me ;)).. You can find this at your nearest hardware shop. Just ask them for clear pipe tubing. There are a few sizes, choose the one that can fit the bobbins (judging by eye only of course).

Thanks to Sassycrafter (visit her blog for instructions) for this brilliant idea :)..

Thrilled and excited? You bet. I nearly jump when Zura’s email appearing in my inbox haha! She was the organizer of the SewRetroChic Craft Swap (Thanks Kak Zura!). Nervously, i clicked it open. It’s a list of craft swap participants. I had to read it twice in order to understand how it works hehe.. Okay, so NeezaNeedles will sew something for me, while I had to sew for MarieLadycino. Weehoo!

I was having a hard time deciding what to sew for Marie. I sat for like 30 mins imagining the end product of various sewing projects.. yah, I wasn’t doing anything.. just imagining. Boy, i'm good at this hahah.. finally, I made this make-up bag. check her blog :)

And today.. today something interesting has happily entered my mailbox and waiting for me to pick her up hehe
It’s so cute! Simple but cute!

No.. no, the bag above is not for my son.. Pink is definitely not for boys haha! I actually made that for my 3 yr old niece. Since she was not around that particular time, I have to ask that part-time model to wear the pink bag. Oh, why didn’t he wear his own bag? Err.. okay, I’ll make one for him :P.. (and err.. not until I’m done with another one.. custom order for a friend. I’ll post the pics once finished)syafhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04043537198167365477noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218229479157012048.post-5315275970315253182010-12-08T09:09:00.000-08:002010-12-08T09:39:07.775-08:00S is for SkirtThe first skirt I have ever made was during secondary school. It was a knee length skirt with floral pattern fabric. This was one of the projects for Kemahiran Hidup and to be honest, I don’t really like this subject.. because the teacher made me hate it. Here’s one of the stories.

One day I was late for KH because I had to help carry some books to the teachers’ room (only a few minutes late and that was the first time). My KH teacher locked the sewing room and didn’t let me and my 3 girlfriends in. Frustrated was I bcos I thought I can continue sewing that day! (I didnt have a machine at home). She was very very angry I could even hear her yelling to our classmates in that room. Madness.. Somehow I was glad she locked the door! So since we couldn’t go anywhere else, we just sat outside having a picnic next to the KH garden, enjoying the lazy afternoon breeze with a nice green view.. that was a great ‘escape’ ;).. Well yeah, I managed to finish the skirt on time, half heartedly.

Anyway, I’ve decided to try sewing skirts again now. Tiered this time.

Following my success of sewing a beautiful skirt (now stop rolling your eyes at me! haha), I made another 2 tiered skirts for my pretty nieces.

Triple happy ending woohoo!!syafhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04043537198167365477noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218229479157012048.post-88715025850774786992010-12-07T08:20:00.000-08:002010-12-08T09:44:16.816-08:00Coins PurseCoins, coins, where art thou?

“I ate them all”, said a voice inside her bag.
Who was that, she wonders.. oh that cute lil monster!
Come here you.. Stop eating my coins.
Eat these instead!

Poor little monster is now loaded with threads and pins.. ouch!

I tried sewing this clutch purse right after noticing the package in my mailbox. It was a kit; complete with materials needed excluding fabric. The picture above was taken after my second try. The first one didn’t turn out well bcos I didn’t read the instructions carefully, plus the fabric I used frayed terribly. It was a mess. The second time was pretty easy as I already understand most of the steps and the result was satisfying.. Weehoo!
It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. It’s a simple tote bag but with curvy corners at the bottom. I guess this could be a good tutorial for beginners who want to try making bags. Recommended ;).. I never knew I could sew a bag!

I made this polka dot toy bag for my son. He was so happy when I gave it to him and quickly cleaned up all the mess and put them into the bag. Boy i was pleased until he dig another box to make another gigantic 'train island'..
Since then, I became addicted to bags ;). My second project was based on JCaroline Hobo bag pattern. It turned out as expected! Another happy ending. This one is not that hard either but you need to be very patient. Follow the instructions carefully, one by one. At one stage I was thinking that the steps were wrong (yeah, i always thought i was smart lol) but no, obviously. I had to unpicked the stitched lines and reverted to previous steps, leaving a row of tiny holes on the fabric.. dang. Lesson learnt.
My hobo bag with Ikea fabric.. which I think was a bad match. Should have use different fabric. And yeah, I used wooden rings instead of metal. Searched everywhere but can’t find a single craft shop selling flat metal ring. Anyone knows where can I get that locally?syafhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04043537198167365477noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4218229479157012048.post-74874659150467093832010-12-06T07:42:00.000-08:002010-12-08T09:43:35.544-08:00Greetings!Hey you!

I recently had this crave to blog about my sewing adventures after months of visits to a few local + international crafters’ blogs as a silent follower. I was quite surprise to learn that there were loads of local supa crafters out there who are as talented as international crafters. Never did know that I was surrounded by zillion of interesting people all this while as I always had difficulty finding friends who think sewing is fun, creating beautiful stuffs is much more satisfying than just buy readymade products, etc. **Perhaps I’ve let myself drowned deep in the sea full of techie nerds instead of swimming back up to the shore.

Anyway, me no need to worry no more bcos you gals really exist around me, yippie! I’m pleased to welcome all of you to my new playground and hoping that we could share ideas to spice up our creativeness… well, I am no expert but am very passionate about the things that interest me.syafhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04043537198167365477noreply@blogger.com0
