Is that an airplane's pipe?

Okay, this is not one of the missing parts from the recent airasia crash incident hehe..
But this thing can be turned into something really useful for your bobbins. You just need only RM1 to get 3 sets of bobbin organizer. Cool isn’t it?





And all you need is a pipe, as shown above (I don’t know what they usually called it here but it looks like a pipe to me ;)).. You can find this at your nearest hardware shop. Just ask them for clear pipe tubing. There are a few sizes, choose the one that can fit the bobbins (judging by eye only of course).

Craft In My Mailbox

I’ve never joined any craft swap before so this was my first time. Thrilled and excited? You bet. I nearly jump when Zura’s email appearing in my inbox haha! She was the organizer of the SewRetroChic Craft Swap (Thanks Kak Zura!). Nervously, i clicked it open. It’s a list of craft swap participants. I had to read it twice in order to understand how it works hehe.. Okay, so NeezaNeedles will sew something for me, while I had to sew for MarieLadycino. Weehoo!

I was having a hard time deciding what to sew for Marie. I sat for like 30 mins imagining the end product of various sewing projects.. yah, I wasn’t doing anything.. just imagining. Boy, i'm good at this hahah.. finally, I made this make-up bag. check her blog :)




And today.. today something interesting has happily entered my mailbox and waiting for me to pick her up hehe

It’s a gift from Neeza!! A wallet!!! Weeeeee!! This is awesome! I've been planning to sew myself a wallet a few weeks ago and now *poof*.. it's in my hand, nicely done! hehehe.. Thanks Neeza! Like it sooo muchhh :D.. check her blog :) One item in my sewing project list can be marked completed by Neeza's creative hands, yeay!

Kiddie Bag

It was love at first sight when I saw this at Rae's blog. It’s so cute! Simple but cute!



No.. no, the bag above is not for my son.. Pink is definitely not for boys haha! I actually made that for my 3 yr old niece. Since she was not around that particular time, I have to ask that part-time model to wear the pink bag. Oh, why didn’t he wear his own bag? Err.. okay, I’ll make one for him :P.. (and err.. not until I’m done with another one.. custom order for a friend. I’ll post the pics once finished)

S is for Skirt

The first skirt I have ever made was during secondary school. It was a knee length skirt with floral pattern fabric. This was one of the projects for Kemahiran Hidup and to be honest, I don’t really like this subject.. because the teacher made me hate it. Here’s one of the stories.

One day I was late for KH because I had to help carry some books to the teachers’ room (only a few minutes late and that was the first time). My KH teacher locked the sewing room and didn’t let me and my 3 girlfriends in. Frustrated was I bcos I thought I can continue sewing that day! (I didnt have a machine at home). She was very very angry I could even hear her yelling to our classmates in that room. Madness.. Somehow I was glad she locked the door! So since we couldn’t go anywhere else, we just sat outside having a picnic next to the KH garden, enjoying the lazy afternoon breeze with a nice green view.. that was a great ‘escape’ ;).. Well yeah, I managed to finish the skirt on time, half heartedly.

Anyway, I’ve decided to try sewing skirts again now. Tiered this time.



Following my success of sewing a beautiful skirt (now stop rolling your eyes at me! haha), I made another 2 tiered skirts for my pretty nieces.

Coins Purse

Coins, coins, where art thou?

“I ate them all”, said a voice inside her bag.
Who was that, she wonders.. oh that cute lil monster!
Come here you.. Stop eating my coins.
Eat these instead!

Poor little monster is now loaded with threads and pins.. ouch!



I tried sewing this clutch purse right after noticing the package in my mailbox. It was a kit; complete with materials needed excluding fabric. The picture above was taken after my second try. The first one didn’t turn out well bcos I didn’t read the instructions carefully, plus the fabric I used frayed terribly. It was a mess. The second time was pretty easy as I already understand most of the steps and the result was satisfying.. Weehoo!

Planning to make more of this cute fella. I just need one perfect time.

Bag Adventure

I started my first sewing project with UHandbag’s Gusset bag pattern (minus the mini purse) a year ago. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. It’s a simple tote bag but with curvy corners at the bottom. I guess this could be a good tutorial for beginners who want to try making bags. Recommended ;).. I never knew I could sew a bag!

I made this polka dot toy bag for my son. He was so happy when I gave it to him and quickly cleaned up all the mess and put them into the bag. Boy i was pleased until he dig another box to make another gigantic 'train island'..



Since then, I became addicted to bags ;). My second project was based on JCaroline Hobo bag pattern. It turned out as expected! Another happy ending. This one is not that hard either but you need to be very patient. Follow the instructions carefully, one by one. At one stage I was thinking that the steps were wrong (yeah, i always thought i was smart lol) but no, obviously. I had to unpicked the stitched lines and reverted to previous steps, leaving a row of tiny holes on the fabric.. dang. Lesson learnt.



My hobo bag with Ikea fabric.. which I think was a bad match. Should have use different fabric. And yeah, I used wooden rings instead of metal. Searched everywhere but can’t find a single craft shop selling flat metal ring. Anyone knows where can I get that locally?
